Mumbai: NewsMaker Achiever 2022 has conferred Pithoragarh District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan with the Best IAS officer award at Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium in Mumbai, for his excellence in administration.
Mumbai’s reputed news agency Afternoon Voice honors changemakers across the country with Newsmaker Achievers Award who have done commendable work in their domain areas.
Dr Chauhan was transferred to Pithoragarh in 2021. Since then, In a small fraction of time, he has moved the rocks to make the district a better world to live in. From transforming the district headquarters in shambles to a heritage building and setting up new model for local youth towards entrepreneurship, connecting border areas to the mainstream life of India which was also Late CDS General Bipin Rawat’s vision
Pithoragarh is a border district as well as a strategic region encompassed with China and Nepal. Issues like Disaster Management, Communication, Health and Education have always been spiralled over state governance. Dr Chauhan, since after taking over as the new collector of the district, has been tirelessly working on grassroot level to revive the hill town.
The awardees were shortlisted for this impeccable contribution in government service, social sector, politics, education, medicine were selected.
Apart from Dr Chauhan, Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale was felicitated as the best IPS officer. Advocate Dr. Prashant Mali, Best Cyber Expert, Dr. Zinal Shah Best Doctor, Professor Ajay Kumar Best Academic were among others to receive the honor.
In the past, Balasaheb Thackeray, Lata Mangeshkar, Shivshahir Babasaheb Purandare, Asha Bhosle, Baba Amte, Acharya Lokesh Muni, Swami Krupaluji, Swami Umakantanand Sarswati, Mandatai Amte, Vikram Gokhale, Mohan Agashe, Devendra Fadnavis, Rajdeep Sardesai, Rohan Dua, Sahil Joshi, Sushant Siha received this prestigious award.
